Blast from the past

Shannon, my mom, Owen, Lyla, and Olivia visited us this weekend. One of the first things Shannon said to me was, "Mom and I have a beef with you." I knew what it was going to be. I've admitted a couple of times recently that I needed to blog or owed you guys some posts. It's not a good excuse, but I just haven't been wanting to be on the computer much at home and guess what? That's where I mostly need to be for blogging. I do some from work when there aren't as many pictures involved, but my day trip to Statesville needs to be written about from here because of all the pictures.

So I'm going to back up and write about that weekend before I write about and post pictures from this weekend.

I visited Statesville the weekend after Olivia was born. Bri, Lyla, and my mom came up from Charlotte so it was a great day for visiting with everyone. I got there first and once Olivia was done eating, Shannon handed her over for some very important aunt-niece bonding.

When Bri and Lyla got there, they had some similar aunt-niece and cousin-cousin bonding.

It was a fairly nice day in that the temperature was okay for February and the sun was shining, but the wind made it cold. That didn't bother Owen and Lyla who wanted to play outside. And who did they want to play with? Aunt Steph, of course.

"That way, Aunt Steph!"
I promise, I wasn't pulling the wagon fast enough to make their hair go back like that. That's just how windy it was.

We went inside to warm up, and Lyla decided she wanted to hold Olivia. I guess we can consider it practice for when her little sister arrives in May.

"Oh man, this is so cool."

"Okay, yep, I'm holding the baby."

Five seconds later: "Can someone take this thing and can I go back out to the swings?"

Shannon had a nurse come for the one-week check-up (How nice is that instead of her having to go in to the doctor's office?) so the rest of us went on a walk while they were meeting. Once again, I was on wagon duty.

At some point in the afternoon, both Owen and Lyla decided that the baby seat was THE place to sit.

It's a good thing Mom/G'ma was there; there was a duck in need of minor foot surgery.

A couple pictures from just before I left.

Look at that sweet baby girl.

Okay, I feel much better now that I've gotten this post out. Hopefully it won't be 6 weeks before I post about their weekend visit...

I am glad you finally found the time to do the post justice.... Is she going to look more like her Daddy than Owen does? I am sure she is not soooo tiny now.... McMom
