Wow, I better get this last Thanksgiving post out or else I'll be working on Christmas Parts I, II and III before I know it.
We ended up doing our official Thanksgiving dinner with the McInlaws on Friday instead of Thursday so that Kevin and Jenny didn't have to eat two Thanksgiving meals in one day like they have in the past. Not only was it a day later than usual, but we had a Mexican-inspired meal and margaritas. Even if we go back to turkey next year, I think we should keep the margaritas.
Chase helped with dessert.
The McHusband and I made ourselves useful and kept Leah happy. It was a tough job, but someone had to take one for the team.
The McHusband handed Leah off to join in the fun on the floor.
Chase and Kevin went upstairs for a little while and when they came back down, Chase seemed to be more ready for Halloween than for Thanksgiving.
After our dinner of chicken quesadillas and Latina Lasagna, we had our annual Sacks on the Table where we each get an ornament from the McMom.
I got Tinkerbell this year in honor of my costume at Halloween.
Soon enough, it was time for little boys to have their baths and go to bed.
On Saturday, the McHusband and I went to Bill and Veerle's for a home-cooked breakfast. Now that we know how much Bill enjoys cooking breakfast on the weekends, we just might have to make that our newest Thanksgiving tradition.
Here're Bill and Veerle enjoying the new view from their couch. They'd gotten a new TV the day before and we talked for a while about how the furniture should be arranged around it and we finally just got up and moved everything around. See, Bill, if you cook for us, we'll do manual labor for you. Remember that next November...
All that furniture-moving made the McHusband thirsty so he filled a stemless wine glass with some diet Coke. He said it was the only glass he could find.
When we got home from breakfast, Jenny, Chase, and the McMom were outside playing so of course we joined in the fun.
Jenny took the kids over to her parents house and we left for the Raleigh area a couple hours later. It was tough to say goodbye to everyone after such a nice visit, but we know we'll see them again soon for Christmas so that made it a little easier. I for one am hoping Chase's speech ability doesn't improve too much between now and then. He really can't say "Steph" right now so what comes out sounds like Aunt Best.
I can live with that.
