Beantown Baker

I found a new blog - Beantown Baker. I scrolled through every post yesterday and bookmarked a few of her recipes.

Crockpot Beef and Peppers

I'm actually surprised that this one appealed to me. I'm not a huge meat (specifically beef) person to begin with, and the McHusband isn't your typical meat and potatoes kind of guy. During the week, we're happy with sandwiches and cereal and the occasional homecooked meal of pasta or Tuna Helper. I tend to cook more on Sundays, and then it's usually chicken or we'll throw something like kielbasa on the grill.

I think it's the crockpot that convinced me to try this recipe. Or maybe my iron's low.

And speaking of kielbasa...

Crockpot Kielbasa and Sauerkraut

Raise your hand if you say kih-bah-see? McWife raises hand. My sisters and I have always said it that way. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

I know not everyone like sauerkraut, but I actually do like it, and I think this recipe would change the flavor enough for the McHusband to like it, too.

Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

I have a whole can of tahini (remember the Black Bean Hummus I just made?) to use plus I like hummus so this was a no-brainer.

Finally, dessert!

Peanut Butter Surprise Ball

I've made Oreo Truffles and the Nutter Butter Truffles. I think it's time to expand my truffle repetoire to include these.

(By the way: Does the big, blood-red dot on the plate bother anyone else? I find it...distracting.)

Ha! That's how I pronounce Kilbassa too! The first time I called it that, Mic was like "what are you saying?" hahaha.

You guys --- it is pronounced KEEELBASA --- did you not learn phonics? No, really it can be pronounced several ways from what I see AND hear on this site.....

The McHusband doesn't remember McMom fixing KEELBASA and cabbage, or kraut, and Maurice's BBQ sauce? This recipe is probably different and more tasty. Glad you like to branch out and try new things. The peanut butter thing looks scrumptuous --- I thought the red dot was some sort of sauce!!! Guess I need my eye exam soon!
Crock pot is a magical word and can alwyas peak interest....A. Charlotte has sent me a pork taco recipe I will be trying soon. Love ya -- McMom

McMom: No it ain't, not in our parts of Michigan anyway! Think we can all agree, no matter how it's pronounced it's a great replacement for Spam! Jeez, remember those days? Although I have to admit I do like it fried to this day.

Steph, how in the world did you manage to surf this new site AND dig up new recipes? I THOUGHT YOU WERE AT WORK? (Must be nice to have the BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!)

Looking forward to tasting your new recipes, ESPECIALLY the chocolate/peanut butter thingee -- I'll take two!

Sorry about the distracting red dot. That was before I started trying so hard for my food photography. It's actually a snowflake plate that I love.

If you would please acknowledge that the photos were taken by me, that would be great. I do spend a decent amount of time working on my food photography and all photos from my site are original unless otherwise noted.
