Beantown: The rest of Saturday

After our Duck Tour of the city, we headed to Faneuil Hall Marketplace for lunch. On the way, we saw some street performers, the type you might see on SYTYCD.

Faneuil Hall had a TON of options for our palates' pleasures so we split up. The McHusband and I walked from one end to the other before deciding that our taste buds were calling out for pizza.

We headed toward the Boston Public Garden, walking through a pot festival on our way. And, uh, we're not talking clay here, people.

The Public Garden was a beautiful place.

We saw the bronze ducklings, an installation inspired by Robert McCloskey's story Make Way for Ducklings, a book that Sabrina has and I read the night before.

We saw (and heard, unfortunately) a one-man band...

...and we finally found the 9/11 memorial that Sabrina asked us to be on the lookout for.

Our destination after the park was Acorn Street in Beacon Hill. According to Wikipedia, Acorn Street is often mentioned as the most picturesque (or the most frequently photographed) street in the United States." But we didn't get any pictures of it.

Kidding! Luckily there were some other tourists there so we were able to have one of them take a group picture. Oh, and apparently John Kerry lives nearby because they had just seen and spoken to him.

Real quick: a post-Picnik version.

Beacon Hill was the end of the tourism line for us that day. We caught a train back to Rick and Sabrina's neighborhood, stopping in at a local bar for a drink on our walk home.

And thank goodness we did because I discovered Woodchuck's seasonal cider and it was fabulous! Their fall cider with its spices (cinnamon and nutmeg, yum!) is amazing. I had to be talked into my first one, but I was gung-ho about ordering the second.

Feeling good post-Picnik (and after downing that first VERY tall cider).

We had dinner at Jose's that night. Rick and Sabrina had promised a pitcher of some of the best margaritas we would ever have and they were right. Jose knows his stuff!

From Jose's, we made two pit stops (one at the house to drop off a doggie bag and one at a local restaurant for some drinks and conversation) before ending our first full day in Boston with ice cream from famed JP Lick's.

Another wonderful day in Beantown and we still had one more to look forward to.
