Anna and I co-chaired the decorating committee for Kim’s wedding. Kim wanted “rustic elegance” and she entrusted her ideas with us so we could bring her vision to life. No pressure, you know, just making sure the biggest day in her life so far turned out exactly the way she was picturing it.
This was the ceremony site. (That “barn” in the background is where the reception happened.) Leigh helped us with set-up the day of the wedding and thank goodness she was there. Her extra set of hands made a HUGE difference.
Anna and Leigh are hanging string balls, which my mom made and used at Bri’s sister-in-law’s wedding in August. We hung the balls using ribbon in burnt orange, purple, and a cranberry red, all Kim’s wedding colors .
Anna demonstrated how she thought we needed a couple small balls to fill in. She was right; we did.
Once the balls were done, we headed to the barn to work with the flowers and centerpieces. I could kick myself for not getting any close-ups of the centerpieces, especially since they were my responsibility. Hopefully the wedding photographer got at least one I can use.
While I worked on centerpieces, Anna arranged flowers in mason jars, which were going to be hung on shepherd’s hooks lining the aisle. She did a terrific job.
And this is how the ceremony site came together.
A few other décor details. After the ceremony, we took some of the hooks up to the “yard” behind the pavilion/reception site where we switched out mason jars of flowers for mason jars of sand and candles. These lined a path we made to the fire pit just off the back of the dance floor.
This is the pavilion where we had our cocktail hour, and it later transformed into the dance floor.
And a teaser picture (literally) for the next wedding post. This is Kim’s portrait. GORGEOUS!!!
