A day at the lake

A couple of weeks ago (Yes, it's a blog theme as of late: all posts seem to be a minimum of two weeks behind), we joined Chelle, Jeremy, Kim, Greg, Heather, Bruce, and their girls for a day of fun and sun at Jordan Lake. Everyone but us had camped at the lake the night before. More on the camping in a bit.

We packed up our cooler and supplies and headed out.

When we got to the campground, the group was easy to find. We just looked for the spiffy new RV/trailer that Chelle and Jeremy got.

It even has an outdoor kitchen.

Okay, so when they said, "It has an outdoor kitchen" and looked in the grill's direction, I thought they were being funny. But guess what? It really DOES have an outdoor kitchen!

How cool is that?

Their home away from home for the weekend.

Kim, Greg, and their two dogs stayed in a tent on an adjacent campsite. Everyone else slept comfortably in the camper. Hmm, that might be the kind of camping I can actually do...

After we took the grand tour and Heather made enough PB&J sandwiches for an army (and thank goodness she did because they hit the spot later on), we headed out on the lake.

Bruce and Jeremy had to run a couple errands so Heather piloted us across Jordan Lake. Oh captain, our captain!

The McHusband and me looking not-too-windblown yet.

Camden and Riley even made it out with us.

When we found a good place to stop, we slathered on the sunscreen and most people jumped into the water. The sun was playing peekaboo and unlike the weather lately, it was actually pleasant out so I didn't get in the water right away.

Greg went a little nuts with the sunscreen.

Riley swam, too.

Then it was time for lunch and pictures. For some reason, the flash went off in this picture of Chelle and me. Doesn't it sorta look like we're in front of a fake background?

Love Kim's super-cute polka-dot bikini.

Heather's girls, Bronte and Bianca.

Heather with two of her other girls.

A self-portrait before the knee-boarding.

The McHusband got up on his first try and was really good at knee-boarding. He asked Heather to drive the boat to challenge him - and she had a lot of fun doing just that.

A short bouncy video (seriously, you may need some Dramamine to watch it) of the McHusband in action.

I think the puppies expressed it best at the end of the afternoon. It was a great day and lots of fun, but nothing like sun and swimming to wear you out.

Thanks again, guys, for inviting us to join you. We had a blast!
