For sale

Anyone want to buy a townhouse?

The McHusband set his mind to buying a foreclosure to flip early last year.  He worked with the realtor who we used to sell our previous house and buy this one.  The two of them looked at a number of properties, most of them on the far side of Raleigh.  Luckily, the deal or two we tried to make out there didn’t work out and we ended up with this property in Cary.

I say “luckily” because of how much time the McHusband ended up spending there either fixing the place up or checking on the people we were paying to fix it up.  The townhouse was very convenient to the McHusband’s office and not too INconvenient to our house.

Some of the work we paid for included new laminate flooring in the kitchen and entryway, new carpet throughout, and fresh paint on the walls, trim, and ceilings.  A few cabinets and drawers needed new fronts, we needed a few doors (yeah, people don’t like to buy properties with holey doors), and there was some woodwork, uh, work.

We replaced most of the light fixtures in the townhouse.  I painted those nichess by the fireplace the same green as in the kitchen.  It wasn’t my first choice of colors, but it was free and available and we had plenty to go around.

The townhouse has three bedrooms, including a master with an attached bath, and a laundry closet on the second floor so you don’t need to drag your dirty underoos downstairs.

I will do another post with the before pictures but for now let’s just say that even our realtor said if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t believe it was the same place.

The process of buying this place dragged out so long that the McHusband actually started over with looking at other places.  But that’s just how it goes with foreclosures – you just hope for the best with the timing and expect the worst and keep your fingers crossed that your expectations aren’t reality.  Of course, in our case, they pretty much were.

So send us some good luck vibes so we can flip this place sooner than later and see about moving on to the next opportunity.
