The Great Escape

When the McHusband and I got home after Fourth of July at Chelle and Jeremy's, Tucker greeted us with a bark - from the den. He was supposed to be in his crate upstairs in the bonus room.

When we went upstairs, we saw that the baby gate we use to block the doorway into the bonus room (to keep Morgan in) was askew. Upon further investigation, we found that the crate was, for lack of a more accurate description, bent all to hell.

The pan that is the bottom of the crate was pushed out at good 6 to 8 inches.

It was also covered in water from Tucker's bowl and LOTS of Tucker hair.

Here's the McHusband demonstrating how little space there is between the pan and the bottom of the door to the crate.

Have you seen Tucker's head? How in the world did it fit through that little bit of space?

The bottom latch was unlatched. No, we don't think he figured out how to undo it, it just came undone as a result of his escape.

As if the bent metal weren't enough, we have actual forensic evidence linking Tucker to the scene.

We think the neighbors were probably setting off firecrackers and he got so nervous that he fought his way out of the crate. Luckily, he didn't get hurt and the house was fine. Silly puppy...

Awwww --- I don't see how he could have done that w/o hurting himself or bleeding from someplace! Where was he when you got home? Did he greet you? Guess next year he needs some Benadryl or Acepromazine... McMom
