Happy New Year! It’s back to the real world for the McHusband and me today. We’ve been on vacation since Friday the 21st so I’m sure it’s going to be a rough hump day getting back into the swing of things. At the same time, it will be nice to get back to our normal routines.
We welcomed 2013 by having a lazy day at home. I watched a movie and downloaded pictures onto my laptop, the McHusband set up our new wireless modem and tried to find the end of the internet, and we teamed up to hang some pictures – I picked the spots, he put the holes in the walls. My Christmas tree is still up, but the rest of the decorations are put away so we and the house have generally recovered from the holidays.
I’m going to skip Christmas for now and go straight to our NYE night. As we have for the past two years, The McHusband and I rang in the new year with Ryan and Sandra.
I snapped a quick photo as we headed out the door.
Like I said, this was our third time at Ryan and Sandra’s New Year’s Eve party, and we hang out with them and some of their neighbors and friends another time or two during the year so it’s nice to see what are now familiar faces.
Like this one. That would be our gracious host.
And our lovely hostess.
Guess which one of us drove home?
I brought some Browned Butter Rice Krispie Treats to share. I know rice krispie treats are kind of simple, but they’re one of those foods that everyone seems to gobble up. And these were adult-ified with browned butter and salt.
I cut the treats using one of the biscuit cutters from the set the McMom got me for Christmas so that each treat was perfectly square with pretty edges. Can’t wait to try it with other bar desserts.
I hope we weren’t the only ones having a great time with friends when 2012 became 2013. How did the rest of you ring in the new year?
