Memorial Day dawned bright and HOT! So of course that made it perfect parade weather. We headed to the little town just a few miles from where Kevin and Jenny live.
The McHusband and Chase had some of the best seats in the house.
{See the guy in the sunglasses looking our way? He was kinda sketchy. I felt like he was constantly looking at us, scoping out our group, trying to figure out which kid he’d make off with if given the chance.}
I’m not sure who was more into the parade.
Leah was happiest in Jenny’s lap.
The last vehicle in the parade, a smilin’ street sweeper.
And a quick group picture before we leave.
After the parade, we packed up some lunch and headed to a splash park. Chase was still sticking very close to the McHusband.
Lots of other people thought a water park on a hot May day was a good idea.
The big boys got in on the fun, too.
Jenny and I were good and went for a run in the afternoon while Leah napped and Chase had some quiet time with a Scooby video. We knew there was going to be sangria and grilling out later so needed to preemptively burn off a few calories.
The McHusband ended up on grill duty. Grillers need sangria, too, don’t you know.
Chase had more fun with one of the chairs than I thought possible.
Leah, meanwhile, was listening to some tunes.
I was just basking in the sun, soaking up the sangria rays.
Dinner was delicious! I think it’s safe to say that the corn on the cob was a hit.
The sangria sun caught up to Jenny after dinner when she was in the playroom with Leah and Chase.
So that was our Memorial Day in a nutshell. It really was a pretty fabulous day, definitely one to remember (and I will!).
